The glossary,
in plain words.

SPF, DMARC, Consent Mode, RGAA… The terms you will meet in our offers, reports and guides, explained simply, with the service that deals with each one.

Email deliverability

DNSDomain Name System

The directory of your domain name: it tells the internet where your website is, where your email is received and who may send in your name. Records are added or edited at your DNS host.

TXT recordDNS record

A text record published in your DNS zone. SPF, DKIM, DMARC, BIMI and many ownership verification codes are published as TXT records.

MX recordMail Exchanger

Says which servers receive the email sent to your domain (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365…). Obsolete or conflicting MX records can make you lose messages.

SPFSender Policy Framework

The list of servers and services allowed to send email for your domain. It must stay under 10 DNS lookups and end with a clear rule, ~all or -all.

DKIMDomainKeys Identified Mail

A digital signature added to each message and checked against a public key published in your DNS under a "selector". It proves the message was not altered and comes from an authorised sender.

DMARCDomain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance

Tells mailbox providers what to do with a message that fails authentication, and where to send reports. Gmail and Yahoo have required it from bulk senders since February 2024.

AlignmentDMARC

For DMARC to pass, the domain validated by SPF or DKIM must match the domain shown in the "From" address. A message can pass SPF and still fail DMARC if it is not aligned.

DMARC policyp=none, quarantine, reject

none only monitors, quarantine sends failing messages to spam, reject refuses them. The policy is raised step by step, after reading the reports.

DMARC reportsrua

Daily summaries sent by mailbox providers, listing who sends email in your name and whether it passes. They reveal forgotten tools and spoofing attempts.

BIMIBrand Indicators for Message Identification

Displays your logo next to your messages in the mailboxes that support it, once DMARC is enforced (quarantine or reject). Some providers also require a certificate for the logo.

Bulk senderGmail, Yahoo

A domain that sends close to 5,000 messages or more a day to Gmail addresses. Stricter rules apply: DMARC, one-click unsubscribe and a low spam rate.

Google Postmaster ToolsGoogle

Google's free dashboard showing your domain's reputation, spam rate and authentication results for the email you send to Gmail users.

DeliverabilityInbox placement

The share of your emails that reach the inbox rather than spam or rejection. It depends on authentication, on your sending reputation and on your content.

Tracking

GTMGoogle Tag Manager

A tool that manages the tags (scripts) of your website from one interface, without editing the code each time.

Server-side trackingServer GTM

Events go first to a server you control, on a subdomain of yours, which forwards them to your ad and analytics tools. More reliable, and you decide what leaves. It never replaces consent.

First-party subdomaindata.example.com

A subdomain of your own domain used by the tracking server, so that its requests come from your site rather than from a third party.

Meta Conversions APICAPI

Meta's server-to-server channel for sending conversions (purchases, leads) in addition to the browser pixel.

DeduplicationEvent ID

When the same event arrives from both the browser and the server, a shared event ID lets the ad platform count it only once.

ConversionPurchase, lead…

A valuable action on your website (purchase, sign-up, quote request) reported to your ad tools to measure and optimise your campaigns.

Accessibility

EAAEuropean Accessibility Act

The European directive that has applied since 28 June 2025 to many products and services, including online stores, with exemptions for micro-enterprises.

RGAARéférentiel général d'amélioration de l'accessibilité

The French accessibility reference framework, based on WCAG, used to audit websites in France.

WCAGWeb Content Accessibility Guidelines

The international accessibility guidelines published by the W3C, with three levels (A, AA, AAA). Level AA is the usual target.

Alternative textalt

A short description of an image, read aloud by screen readers. Purely decorative images get an empty alternative.

Contrast ratioWCAG AA

The difference in luminance between text and its background. Level AA asks for at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text.

Keyboard navigationFocus

Being able to use the whole website (menus, forms, checkout) with the keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator at every step.

Lighthouse & axeAutomated tests

Reference tools that detect part of the accessibility issues automatically. A full audit also requires manual checks, including with a screen reader.

Leads & automation

CRMCustomer relationship management

The software where your contacts, leads and deals live (HubSpot, Pipedrive, Salesforce…).

Make & ZapierNo-code automation

Platforms that connect your tools without code: a new form entry can create a contact in your CRM and alert your team.

WebhookAutomation

An automatic message that one tool sends to another when an event happens, for example a new form submission.

LeadSales

Someone who has shown interest (filled in a form, answered an ad) and expects an answer. The faster you reply, the better your chances.

Stanza terms

Acceptance gateBefore delivery

The automated checks run before delivery: DNS lookups, seed inbox tests, script loading before and after consent. Your card is charged only once they pass and you sign off.

Seed testDeliverability

Sending test messages to a panel of mailboxes (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo…) to see where they land and how they are authenticated.

PrerequisitesAccess & information

The access and information a service needs, listed on each offer and collected in your client area. The delivery time starts once the last one is received.

Standard, Express, FlashDelivery speeds

The three delivery speeds: 5 business days, 48 hours maximum, 24 hours maximum. Guaranteed, with a refund if we are late.
